** SPOILER ALERT!!! Usually I try to do a review with little to no spoilers. But with this one I can't. Once you get to the end, this entire book changes. So if you plan to read this book, you don't want to keep reading this post.**

Okay, wow. I only finished the book about twenty minutes ago so i'm still recovering from how it ended! Just, the shock. The feels. O_O Just...Dara?..and Parker. Oh, Nick. *Pauses to collect thoughts*
Starting Over! First off, I love Lauren Oliver. I've read Panic, Before I Fall, and the Delirium Trilogy plus the spinoff novellas with Raven, Hannah, and Annabel! And I NEVER read side novellas of a series. I usually think they're a waste of time and an excuse the author makes to make more money. But I like Lauren Oliver's style, she is one of my two favorite authors. To quote Hazel Grace Lancaster on her love for Peter Van Houten ''Frankly, I would read your grocery lists''. Side note, John Green is my other favorite if you were wondering. I've met Lauren before at a book signing and she is the nicest author Iv'e ever met. She stopped and actually had a full conversation with all of the fans there. So when I heard she was releasing a new book March 2015 I had to read it. Even though i'm a little late. It came out on the 10th and I bought it on the 25th. I would have pre ordered it, but Amazon, Y UR Shipping so high?!
Anyway; I saw some people talking about this book saying that if you read psychological thriller the ending was obvious. I myself, don't. I'll read anything but sometimes when it comes to a genre I don't know as well, I don't know where to start looking for a good one. That being said, the end of this book took me completely by surprise. Until the very end I was still trying to muddle through what all of the pieces meant. I didn't believe that it was really happening until somebody in the story just came right out and said it. Dara is dead. She always was. Throughout the entire story. Nick's mind just refused to believe it and the points of the story in 'Dara's' point of view was just Nick having pshycotic delusions.
How can someone have seen that coming?! I was so ready for the happy ending where Nick and Dara become best friends again, all is forgiven and Dara survives the car accident. But Lauren Oliver knew that. She knew that everyone would expect for things to work out and that;s exactly why she couldn't let it end that way. But then after I knew how it turned out I realized all of the signs, and every part of the story made so much more sense. The party at the Drink where 'Dara' goes, but then Nick's sweater is found at the scene. 'Dara' is putting on her jeans but the don't exactly fit. 'Dara' is kissing Parker but then he whispers Nick's name in her ear. The 'two' of them were never in the same room together at once...
It's been awhile since I've really been shocked by and ending. So in a way I enjoyed it, but at the same time it broke my heart not to have that perfect Disney moment where they all ride into the sunset. Even though we had the ''red flag'' in the tree house and everything was back to normal...sort of. It was a similar feeling when I read 'Before I Fall' which was the first book Lauren Oliver wrote. I won't spoil that ending though. This book was so much better executed that Before I Fall though. I think it's interesting to see how far Lauren is from her first book.
                                                                                Thanks For Reading! - R
PS/ note: Before I end this! I keep forgetting to say this but I got my tickets to YALL West! It is a two day book festival going on here in Cali (it was a strictly east coast festival until this year) I will be meeting authors including Lauren Oliver and getting this book signed. Plus the following week is the LA Times book festival which i'm also going to for the second year in a row. I wanted to let everyone know that I will have special posts after those events talking about my experiences. Maybe I'll even post pictures since its such a special event! Bye all!
